Some of you know Cameron Tummel and Lucas Coffey have been working on a DCF/music teacher training project called Rhythm for Youth. 2017 seems like a perfect year to infuse our youth with improvised music techniques to help them develop communication and understanding with one another, build resilient community through music, and equip them with the ability to adapt, with empathy, to the incredible challenges they face ahead.
What is it all about? Rhythm for Youth enables teachers and facilitators to design rhythm programs for youth ages 5-18. Learn essential techniques for facilitating rhythm events for your classroom and community. This RFY workshop is a three-hour preview of the techniques and tools presented in the weekend-long training. Plenty of drums provided, personal percussion instruments welcome. Recommended for teachers, youth educators and facilitators. Participants’ feedback about the training.
